Finals Weekend 2022

Due to the Ladies success in reaching the finals of the Smiths League which took place on Saturday 27th August, the Club Finals were moved to Sunday 28th and Monday 29th August. Despite the recent prolonged heat spell (and a little rain), the Club Finals took place in near ideal weather conditions. It was pleasing to see many faces who regularly support these finals, together with many that have been absent for a while. However, one notable absentee on the day was President Dennis Kearns who was unable to attend but sent his best wishes and insisted on regular updates throughout the day.

This year, the rinks running 'down' to the railway were chosen as these have been more consistent over the season. The finals were spread over the two days and a number of names appeared regularly, meaning prolonged spells on the green for some. Following a short break after the games, the presentations took place in the hands of Vice President Tony, assisted by Captains Veena and Dave. These presentations also included the Australian Pairs and Syd Brown competitions, together with the most improved players awards which, this year, went to Tracie Doyle and Alan Powell whose game had progressed significantly through their participation in club matches.

The presentations were followed by a wonderful buffet. Thanks go to everyone who assisted with the organisation and execution of yet another thoroughly enjoyable Club Finals!
